€70 / hour / installer
The price includes VAT and standard tools. Charges are based on the time spent on installation. Before you book, we provide an estimated duration and explain any additional costs.
- Minimum booking: one hour. The labour charge for a visit lasting less than an hour is €70.
- After the first hour: each started 15-minute period costs €17.50 per installer.
- When billing starts: when the installer begins preparing the work on site. Billable time includes tasks such as untangling the lights, securing them and checking that they work.
- Lights and materials: not included in the labour price. Agreed purchases are charged separately at the amount shown on the shop receipt.
- Other costs: any travel or parking charges, as well as charges for time spent collecting supplies, are explained and agreed in advance.
- More demanding installations: lift hire, an additional installer and other special arrangements are quoted separately before the job is confirmed.
Labour cost examples for one installer: 1 hour = €70, 1.5 hours = €105 and 2 hours = €140. These examples cover labour only and do not guarantee that a particular installation will be completed within these times.
For a larger display, we can also agree on a fixed quote once the number of lights, installation areas and method of installation are clear.
What types of Christmas lights do we install?
Your display might be a simple string of lights along a railing or a larger arrangement across several areas. We help you decide where to place the lights and how to keep the cables tidy. The service covers the installation of temporary, plug-in decorative lights.
Balcony and terrace Christmas lights
We secure string lights to balcony railings, terraces and other agreed locations. We plan the layout so the lights also look good from inside your home. Cables are routed neatly without obstructing doors or access.
Garden, shrub and small tree lights
We install net lights and string lights on shrubs, small trees and garden decorations as part of your agreed display. Let us know the approximate height of the plants and send an overview photo of the garden. Tall trees and difficult-to-reach areas are assessed separately.
Entrance and exterior decorations
Lights around a doorway, porch or canopy edge create a welcoming entrance. We choose a fixing method to suit the surface and the lights. Building height and working space affect the installation; eaves, roof work and areas requiring a lift are assessed separately.
Window and indoor decorative lights
We hang curtain lights and other decorative lights in windows and agreed locations inside your home. We help arrange them evenly and keep the cables tidy. Share a reference photo or tell us whether you would prefer a subtle display or something more eye-catching.
Shops, restaurants and offices
We install seasonal lights in shop windows, entrances and customer areas. We agree on the scope and timing beforehand so the work can fit around the use of your premises. A separate quote can be arranged for multiple windows or a larger display.
Shared areas in residential buildings
Housing companies can enquire about installation at shared entrances, in gardens or in other agreed areas. We need a contact person, photos of the site and details of the lights to be used. We discuss the work, any necessary approvals and access before booking.
What happens during the installation visit?
We begin by reviewing the agreed installation areas and layout. We visually check the condition of the lights and test them before hanging them. We then secure the lights using a suitable method and arrange the cables carefully.
- Planning the layout and preparing the agreed fixing points.
- Hanging string lights, net lights or curtain lights.
- Routing cables so they do not obstruct walkways or become trapped.
- Checking that the lights work and setting up a compatible plug-in timer if needed.
- Tidying the work area and reviewing the finished display with you.
If we discover that extra work or additional supplies are needed, we discuss this with you before proceeding. You will know what is being done and how the costs are calculated.
Using your own lights or getting help with purchases
You can use lights you already own. Please have them ready before the visit and keep their transformers, fixings and instructions together. If you have not bought your lights yet, send photos of the installation area first so we can help estimate the length and fixings needed.
We can help purchase lights and materials by prior agreement. You approve the products and budget before we buy them. Products are charged at the amount shown on the shop receipt, and any time spent collecting supplies is agreed separately. Light rental is not included in the service.
Outdoor installations use lights and compatible transformers suitable for outdoor use, following the manufacturer's instructions. Outdoor lights need a suitable power socket protected by a residual current device (RCD). We do not alter fixed electrical installations or repair damaged light sets.
For more information on choosing lights, see Tukes guidance on Christmas and decorative lights (in Finnish).
How to book your Christmas light installation
Send photos and your address
Send an overview photo of the installation area, pictures of your lights and your address on WhatsApp. Include the approximate installation height, the number of light sets and your preferred date.
Receive an estimate and appointment
We estimate the time, materials and installation method required. We agree on the pricing and arrival time before confirming your booking.
We install your lights
The installer arrives at the agreed time and puts up the display as planned. At the end of the visit, we check with you that the lights work and the layout matches what was agreed.
Where necessary, obtain permission in advance for fixings to the building exterior, shared structures or surfaces you do not own. Please also tell us where the nearest suitable power socket is and how to access the installation area.
Christmas light removal after the season
When you no longer need your seasonal lights, you can book us to take them down. We collect the lights and agreed fixings neatly for you to store. We can also label where each set was installed to make preparations easier next season.
Removal is a separate service, with the price and appointment agreed in advance. You can ask about installation and removal at the same time. Storing the lights on your behalf is not included.
Frequently asked questions about Christmas light installation
How much does Christmas light installation cost?
Standard installation costs €70 per hour for one installer, including VAT. The minimum charge is one hour. After that, we charge for each started 15-minute period. Lights, materials and any other costs are agreed separately before the work.
Can you install lights I have already bought?
Yes. Send photos of the lights, the information on their packaging and the installation area. We use undamaged lights suitable for the location and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Damaged light sets will need to be replaced.
What if I do not know how long the lights need to be?
Send an overview photo and, if possible, measurements of the area you want to decorate. Tell us whether the lights are intended for one railing or several locations, for example. We help estimate the length needed and agree on any purchases before buying.
Can the lights be installed without drilling?
We can often use existing fixing points or removable fixings suitable for the surface and location. The right method depends on the structure and the weight of the lights. We always agree on any drilling with you before starting.
Do you install Christmas lights on roofs or tall trees?
These jobs are assessed individually based on photos, height and access. We first confirm whether the work is possible and what equipment or additional installers are required. The standard hourly rate does not include lift hire or other separately agreed arrangements.
Do I need an existing power socket?
Plug-in lights need a suitable power supply. Our service covers hanging the lights and connecting them to an existing suitable socket. Installing new sockets or changing fixed electrical wiring is not included in this service.
Can I book Christmas light removal at the same time?
Yes. We can arrange a separate removal visit when you book the installation. We take down the agreed lights and collect them for you to store. Removal is charged separately at the agreed price and is not included in the installation visit.
How soon can you install the lights?
Ask about available appointments on WhatsApp and tell us your preferred date. We confirm the appointment according to our schedule and the requirements of the job. Weather and working conditions can affect outdoor appointments, especially when work at height is involved.
Ready to put up your Christmas lights?
Send a photo of your balcony, garden, entrance or business premises and tell us what kind of lighting you would like. We will estimate the work and suggest an installation appointment in Helsinki, Espoo or Vantaa.
Please include: your address, the areas to decorate, the approximate installation height, details of any lights you already have and your preferred date. You can also ask about removal after the season.
