Professional Sauna Maintenance Services

Sauna maintenance

Regular sauna maintenance helps keep the benches, wooden surfaces, sauna stones and other parts of the sauna in good condition. High temperatures and humidity continuously put stress on sauna materials, which means wooden surfaces can become dirty and dry over time while sauna stones gradually wear, crack and deteriorate.

We provide sauna maintenance services for different needs. Our services include sauna stone replacement, sauna bench oiling and treatment, maintenance of other wooden surfaces and general sauna maintenance. You can order one individual service or a more complete sauna maintenance package.

What does sauna maintenance include?

The scope of the maintenance depends on the condition of the sauna and the customer's needs. We can carry out tasks such as:

• sauna stone replacement
• removal of old sauna stones and installation of new stones
• cleaning sauna benches before treatment
• oiling and protective treatment of sauna benches
• treatment of other wooden sauna surfaces
• light sanding of wooden surfaces when necessary
• visual inspection of sauna benches and wooden parts
• complete sauna maintenance

Our technician can perform one individual maintenance task or several tasks during the same visit.

Sauna stone replacement

Sauna stones are materials that naturally wear out during use. Continuous heating and cooling put stress on the stones, causing them to crack, crumble and produce stone dust or small fragments over time.

The replacement interval depends on the type of heater, how often the sauna is used and the condition of the stones. Sauna stones should be checked regularly, and damaged or heavily deteriorated stones should be replaced when necessary.

We can remove the old sauna stones and properly install new stones in the heater.

If a fault is found in the electrical components of the sauna heater during the work, electrical repairs requiring a qualified electrician are not included in standard sauna maintenance.

Sauna bench oiling and treatment

Sauna benches are constantly exposed to humidity, heat and dirt caused by regular use. Over time, the wood can dry out, darken or develop an uneven colour.

Proper cleaning and treatment help protect the wooden surfaces and keep the sauna looking clean and well maintained for longer.

Depending on the condition of the benches, we can clean them, lightly sand them if necessary and apply a suitable protective treatment designed for sauna use.

Treatment of wooden sauna surfaces

In addition to the benches, other wooden surfaces in the sauna may also require maintenance. The surfaces to be treated and the required work depend on the sauna structure and the condition of the wood.

Before starting the work, the technician evaluates the condition of the wooden surfaces and determines what type of treatment is needed.

For surfaces in good condition, cleaning and protective treatment may be sufficient. If the wood is heavily soiled, dry or uneven, additional preparation or light sanding may be required before treatment.

How often should a sauna be maintained?

There is no single maintenance interval that applies to every sauna. The need for maintenance depends on how often the sauna is used, the number of users and the condition of the benches, other wooden surfaces and sauna stones.

A sauna that is used several times a week naturally requires maintenance more often than a sauna that is used only occasionally.

It is a good idea to inspect the condition of the sauna regularly. Maintaining sauna stones, benches and other wooden surfaces in time can help prevent the need for larger restoration work later.

Frequently asked questions about sauna maintenance

How much does sauna maintenance cost?

The price depends on the required work, the size of the sauna and the condition of the surfaces. For example, sauna stone replacement starts from approximately €90, while more complete sauna maintenance involving several work stages may cost around €180–250 or more.

How often should sauna stones be replaced?

The need for replacement depends on how often the heater is used and the condition of the stones. If the sauna stones have started to crack, crumble or produce many small fragments, their condition should be checked and damaged stones replaced.

Do I need to buy new sauna stones myself?

This can be agreed when making the booking. If you already have new sauna stones, we can carry out only the replacement work. If you need help with purchasing materials, please let us know in advance.

Why should sauna benches be treated?

Proper treatment helps protect wooden surfaces from moisture and dirt and keeps the benches looking clean for longer. Regular maintenance can also make future cleaning easier.

Can old and darkened sauna benches be treated?

In many cases, yes. However, the result depends on the condition of the wood. Darkened or worn benches may require thorough cleaning and possibly light sanding before protective treatment.

How long does sauna maintenance take?

The duration depends on the size of the sauna and the amount of work ordered. A small individual maintenance task can be completed relatively quickly, while a more complete service including sauna stone replacement, bench cleaning and wooden surface treatment requires more time.

Do I need to prepare the sauna before the technician arrives?

The sauna should be completely cooled down. It is also recommended to remove unnecessary items and ensure that the technician has clear access to the heater, benches and other surfaces requiring maintenance.

Can sauna stone replacement and bench treatment be ordered during the same visit?

Yes. Sauna stone replacement, bench treatment and other sauna maintenance tasks can be combined during the same visit, allowing several maintenance needs to be handled at once.
